Best easy waterfall hikes in Utah
Filtered from our directory of 78 Utah waterfalls.
What we mean by easy
An easy waterfall hike, by our definition, is a trail under 2 miles round-trip with less than 400 feet of elevation gain, mostly graded surface, and no exposure to drop-offs. Drive-by viewpoints (where you can see the falls from the parking lot) are included.
One caveat: Easy is relative. A 0.5-mile loop in summer is a different trail in February with ice. Always check current conditions on the official park page before going.
Gear hint: What we'd still pack on an easy hike: water, basic first aid, a layer. Even short trails have surprised us with weather.
No verified picks in Utah yet
We haven't verified easy access on any waterfall in Utah yet. Our directory has 78 Utah falls from OpenStreetMap and USGS GNIS, but those sources don't include trail rating, dog policy, or kid suitability — we have to confirm those in person. We're working through the top 500 most-popular falls first, then expanding by state.
Before you go: 5 things we always check
- The official land manager's page for road and trail closures (linked on every individual waterfall page).
- The weather forecast for the area AND upstream — flash floods come from rain miles away.
- Recent ranger or hiker reports for slippery rock conditions.
- Whether the trail crosses a creek without a bridge — water levels change daily in snowmelt season.
- Cell coverage at the trailhead. Download offline maps in advance.
See our full safety disclaimer for the dangers we've flagged on individual waterfalls. Several have fatalities on record.
