Swimming holes & swimmable waterfalls in District of Columbia

Most “swimmable waterfall” lists are dangerous. The pool below a 30-foot fall is not a swimming hole. On this site, a waterfall is marked swimmable only when there is a recognised, county- or state-managed swim area away from the immediate hydraulic.

No waterfalls in District of Columbia currently meet our swim-access criteria. That's not a failure of the state — it's a strict definition.
