Freedom Falls is a 20-foot twin-channel waterfall on Shull Run, half a mile upstream from its confluence with the Allegheny River in Venango County state game lands. One side cascades down a shale wall; the other plunges straight into a pool. The 5-minute walk in is unmarked but obvious. Pair the visit with the Rockland Furnace ruins 100 yards downstream — one of the most intact iron furnaces left in western Pennsylvania.
The trail
0.5 miles each way, rated easy with 50 feet of elevation gain. Trailhead lot for the Allegheny River Rail Trail between Kennerdell and Emlenton. Free.
